By the grace of Allah and Hadrat al-Mahdi (may his reappearance be hastened) and with the aim of disseminating Mahdism culture among new generation of the country, the Awaited al-Mahdi cultural Affairs Foundation was founded in 1379/2000. Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Qara'ati by the order of his eminent excellency Hadrat ayatullah Khamini'i with a group of activists of the culture and the revolution as a board of trustees, the foundation started its activities in order to promote Mahdism issue in various dimensions of knowledge and obedience in the time of the occultation and following the station of willayah (guardianship) and leadership. Initially, the founder of the association was the late Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Abu-Turabi and after his demise, Dr. Abbas Shaybani has become the foundation's manager. Aims and objectives according to its articles are as follows: 1. Promotion and propagation of Mahdism culture via broad worldwide disseminative suitable means such as: brochures, books, pamphlets, posters, videocassettes and software. 2. Being in touch with officials of cultural sections of the country in Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, universities, IRIB and press in line with religious and revolutionary duties to devout a part of cultural activities to the subject matter of al-Imam al-Mahdi. 3. Holding various cultural festivals at schools and mosques across the country along with displaying cultural-propagation means in order to hold various contests of book-study, poetry, Islamic songs and paintings among teenagers and youths. 4. Preparing active workforce for answering doubts of juvenile and stabilizing doctrinal bases of the society in relation to Mahdism with the aim of teaching the virtuous seminarians, the Mahdaviyyat Specialized Center was established in the city of Qum in the summer of 1380-2001. 5. Publishing an invaluable quarterly journal entitled Intizar (anticipation) in order to present the latest ideas and suggestions in relation to Mahdism and meeting the thinking requirements of seminarians, academicians and education-staff of the country. 6. Harmonizing the active centers and associations in relation to Mahdism in line with growth and promoting of activities and all-out struggles against distorted ideas and superstitious behaviors in the society which by the grace of Allah the policy-making common meetings of these centers have been held.
